Ad Valorem Fees
Definition
These are also commonly known as "Assets Under Management" (AUM) fees. They are calculated by the value of the assets under management.
Using the term Ad Valorem Fees :
In our Latin corner, we note that from the Latin, Ad Valorem, means "against value" or in this sense, the fee is calculated against the value of the assets.
Pay Special Attention To :
This is a common form of fee payment in the mutual fund world and the institutional investment universe. Sometimes, an additional fee is charged which is called a performance fee or incentive fee which is a percentage of profits calculation.
