Definition
This is the portion of a pension fund's liabilities associated with active workers.
Using the term Active Lives :
The pension fund manager is always aware of his current and potential future level of active lives who will become beneficiaries of the pension plan.
Pay Special Attention To :
A pension fund's board of trustees much monitor active and retired lives in order to ensure they are remaining properly funded to meet current and future benefit obligations.
